Blackberries. So versatile, so colourful, so overlooked? I love Blackberries. Let me entice you and inspire you with some hidden recipes I’ve dug up along my journey. A little trick..soak your blackberries in water overnight so that the grubs will come out, unless you don’t mind the protein. All the more reason to leave some berries on the bush so some grubs can survive!

What you can do with these versatile balls of black goodness..

Sweet

Blackberries in fruit leather, sorbet, icecream, mousse, Blackberry and Elderberry jam, Blackberry and Sloe jelly,

Savoury

Blackberries in chutney, vinegar, Blackberries on savoury green pancakes,

Drink

Blackberry cordial

Alcohol

Blackberry wine

Blackberries in whisky – Get some cheaper whisky put in berries and sugar to your taste and then you leave it for a year. After a year take the berries out and then leave for another year. Something that can be done easily and then forgotten about to work in the background as a nice surprise when you find it again.
